Training Track 02

Host: David Holden
Title: Building Counter-Cultural Churches!
Synopsis: These seminars are designed to help you understand the growing secular pressures that are shaping people in our churches on a daily basis. As leaders, we are called to help shape people's lives and if we do so, based on God's Word, we will inevitably produce a counter-cultural community. Come and find out how we are to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world and so transform our wider communities.

Wednesday

Speaker: David Holden
Title: Are We Different?
We are called to shape a people who are already fundamentally different. We are different because we are a people of the Spirit; living in another kingdom and living for eternity. At the same time, we are clearly called to live in the world whilst being very distinct from it. How can our different lifestyles impact a godless society and bring change?

Thursday

Speaker: John Groves
Title: Pastoring People in Secular 21st Century Life
In an increasingly secular world, how do we help people remain confident in living lives based on God's Word? We are a people of the kingdom and that means we have different values that affect daily choices that we make. Healthy marriages, raising strong and secure families, not living in debt and making clear moral decisions are all hallmarks of a kingdom people. Are our churches full of such people?

Friday

Speaker: Matt Hosier
Title: Counter-Cultural Sex
If there's one area where the church should be radically different, it's in the area of sex, sexuality and genuine purity. Tragically, we have often settled for less than radical, and it's now that some fresh insight into this timeless subject is called for that will shape the way Christians think and result in churches leading the way in a Godly approach to sex.

Training Track 03

Host: David Devenish
Title: Changing Worldview And Transforming Lives
Synopsis: In all cultures (including post-Christian western culture) there is a need totally to transform our whole way of looking at life if we are to come under the reign of Christ and genuinely express his kingdom to the world. Furthermore, many people are being saved from backgrounds of severe emotional and spiritual damage as well as from their sinful lives and the godlessness of their culture. This training track is intended to equip us to help people with discipleship in depth, including deliverance and transforming the mind.

Wednesday

Speakers: David Devenish + Edward Buria
Title: Changing Worldview And Thus Transforming Society
A radical change on our lives and those of new converts should result in our being able to bring change to society around. This session shows how we can do that with up to date examples from Kenya.

Thursday

Speakers: David Devenish + Simon Holley
Title: Setting People Free From Sinful Habits, Emotional Damage And Demonic Oppression
Many people come to our churches carrying emotional and spiritual baggage from their past lives. This session shows how practically to set people free from demonic and emotional oppression to come into the good of their inheritance in Christ.

Friday

Speakers: David Devenish + John Kpikpi
Title: Challenging Cultures In Depth
How practically do our churches develop a discipleship model of church life? People also come into our churches carrying baggage from their culture which they are often unaware is contrary to God's Word and to which they often in practice have a higher loyalty. How can we make disciples in a way which truly releases people from these bondages?

Training Track 04

Host: Guy Miller
Title: Prophetic Encounter
Synopsis: This Track, led by a team of prophetic men, will include teaching followed by times of prophetic encounter. Rejecting any notion of the maverick 'lone ranger' prophet, these seminars will examine the team - working of apostles and prophets, prophets and prophets, and pastors and prophets. These times may seriously affect your future!

Wednesday

Speakers: Guy Miller, Julian Adams, Sam Poe + Keith Hazell
Title: Apostles And Prophets Together On A Mission
There is great strength in apostles and prophets working together. They are often seen as complementary gifts in the early church as they help to lay foundations and bring adjustment to erroneous practices in church life.

Thursday

Speakers: Guy Miller, Julian Adams, Sam Poe, Phil Wilthew + Keith Hazell
Title: Prophets And Prophets Together Giving A Fuller Picture
The New Testament refers to prophetic bands. Prophets working together often results in releasing the prophetic gift in greater measure, to the enhancement and greater health of the local church.

Friday

Speakers: Guy Miller, Sam Poe, Phil Wilthew + Keith Hazell
Title: Pastors And Prophets Together Building The Church
Prophets working in isolation can cause mayhem! But working with the local pastor produces both security and expansion in the people for whom he has responsibility.

Training Track 05

Host: Wendy Virgo
Title: Ambassadors For Christ
Synopsis: As we plant churches around the world, we are carrying out Christ's mandate to represent him; we are establishing embassies of another kingdom; we are declaring his message of reconciliation to God. Who can women be effective in this?

Wednesday

Speakers: Wendy Virgo + Sue Hosier
Title: Pioneers And Heroines: Christian Women In The Past
We can learn from women who have influenced society, changed legislation, left an indelible mark: wise, heroic, courageous, different from their contemporaries. Women who left a good legacy behind them. What qualities characterised them and what motivated them?

Thursday

Speakers: Wendy Virgo + Sue Hosier
Title: Aliens And Strangers: Christian Women Today
How have things changed from past decades? As ambassadors for Christ, how are we representing him? How do we work out our mandate? How do we communicate our message? How are we influencing this generation? Have we taken on the mind-sets of the prevailing culture?

Friday

Speakers: Wendy Virgo + Sue Hosier
Title: Daughters And Disciples: Christian Women Of The Future
Is the call today the same as it was in the past? What sorts of role model are we providing? Issues of discipleship. How are we training our younger women and daughters? What sort of legacy will we leave for them to follow?

Training Track 06

Host: Mick Taylor
Title: Fitting It All Together: Explorations In Biblical Theology
Synopsis: The vitality and richness of God's revelation is particularly revealed in the way the different threads of Biblical themes are woven together. This Track will investigate how three ideas which are fundamental to both the Old and New Testaments hold together and should inspire the church today.

Wednesday

Speaker: Mick Taylor
Title: The Kingdom Of God
Jesus preached the good news of the kingdom. How does that relate to the message of Old Testament and the New Testament letters which only mention it infrequently? How should a kingdom understanding energise mission enterprises today? Q&A if time allows.

Thursday

Speaker: Andrew Wilson
Title: The Messiah Of God
You might have read the gospels and wondered how they can quote the Old Testament in the way they do. But when we look carefully, we find that they actually knew the Biblical promises much better than we do! Q&A if time allows.

Friday

Speaker: Martin Charlesworth
Title: The People Of God
How do we define the people of God today? Where do the Jews fit in? How does the New Testament church link with the Old Testament people of God? Q&A if time allows.

Training Track 07

Host: Roger Smith
Title: Does God 'Do Politics'?
Synopsis: This Track, which will be interactive, draws on the experience of speakers in influential positions in their nations to address issues relevant to both Faith and Politics. Should the church be involved in political issues? Where do culture and faith overlap or conflict?

Wednesday

Speaker: Joel Edwards
Title: Evangelicals - Influence or Irritant?
How do you effectively represent the views of over a million evangelical Christians to government and the media? Where does religious conviction fit in to society's balance of rights, responsibilities, diversity, equality and multi-culturalism? How does being a Commissioner for Equality and Human Rights square with being an evangelical Christian? What is it really like being on Question Time?

Thursday

Speaker: Paul Woolley
Title: Faith In The Public Square
Lambeth Council renames its Christmas lights 'Winter Lights'. Torbay Council removes a cross from a crematorium chapel for fear of upsetting other faiths. The Welsh Assembly stops funding 'Teen Challenge' because its successful drug rehabilitation programme included 'proselytism'. The presence of religion in public life creates controversy. Should it be there? What does a 'Christian politician' look like?

Friday

Speaker: Scott Marques
Title: God And Government? - a perspective from Zimbabwe
The challenges associated with a believer's devotion to God, and their interaction with civil society and government are magnified in contexts of abuse of power. What should the church do in such situations? What should I do in this situation? Take a look at Old Testament and New Testament examples as well as illustrations from history and contemporary scenarios.

Training Track 08

Host: Steve Oliver
Title: Apostolic Burden For The Poor
Synopsis: Ten years ago, Simon Pettit sounded a trumpet call that we would remember the poor in all we do as Newfrontiers churches. Concern for the poor was an apostolic burden that Paul and other New Testament leaders carried - not as an optional add-on but as an integral component of God's mission. God is passionate about seeing the poor cared for, saved, empowered and caught up into His mission to reach the nations.

Wednesday

Speaker: Steve Oliver
Title: God's Heart For The Poor - Empowering For World Mission
The Bible leaves us in no doubt that God has a heart of compassion for the poor. He delights in taking the lowly, marginalised and seemingly insignificant, and redeeming them. Those who were not a people are included among the people of God and their lives are given a glorious significance as they are woven into His magnificent purposes.

Thursday

Speaker: Dave Adams
Title: New Testament Church's Response To The Poor
Poverty was a reality in the world of the New Testament. It was into such a world that Jesus stepped and preached good news to the poor. Consequently, the New Testament church gathered in many from the ranks of the poor. It was characterised by an unparalleled inclusiveness and its members shared their resources so that there might be no needy persons among them. As apostolic leaders like Paul sought to fulfil the Great Commission, they made no separation between preaching the gospel and church planting on the one hand, and caring for the poor and needy on the other: both were integral dimensions of God's mission.

Friday

Speaker: Martyn Dunsford
Title: Apostolic Extension With Respect To The Poor
Jesus understood his mission to include preaching good news to the poor, as well as proclaiming freedom for the prisoners and release for the oppressed. It is God's intention not only that the poor should be redeemed from slavery to sin, but that they should be released from the curse of poverty and oppression, and raised up as servants of the Most High, called into ministry that will see many others redeemed and released. Thus apostolic ministry int he New Testament embraced the poor not only as dear brothers, but also as equal partners and co-workers in the life and ministry of the church and the extension of the kingdom of God in the nations.
