'Unusual Success' Through Alpha

Over 2 million people have taken part in Alpha courses across the UK, many through our churches.  Recently we have heard of some amazing stories of how God is using Alpha. See below...

Great Expectations In Broadstairs

Earlier this year, Keith Hazel, a man with a track record as a prophet, brought a number of prophecies to those moving to Broadstairs from The City Church Canterbury. These included both encouragements and warnings 'but', he said, 'in your case, you will experience unusual success.'

God had already stirred them to start an Alpha course in the autumn, sending a clear signal that the focus is on reaching out to non-Christians. Fifteen members delivered 10,000 leaflets and almost every house in Broadstairs received one.

Over 40 people responded! 25 guests came to the banquet and more than 30 signed up to attend the course. Their ages span 60 years – teenagers to pensioners and they come with a wide range of life experiences but share in common a spiritual hunger that only God can satisfy.

Every member of this embryonic church plant is involved in leading and serving on this Alpha course and have had to call on other City Church members to come over and help them. There are currently more guests than church members!

Grace Community Church Broadstairs has faith that God will bless them as he has promised, and they are excited about launching the church with many new Christians!

Hundreds Gather In Central London

ChristChurch London launched their Autumn term Alpha course with 2 events – the first with former MP Jonathan Aitken, and the second with west-end actor Jamie Hinde. The response was thrilling! Over 300 people attended the evenings, with approximately 85 guests returning for the first week of the course.

Seeing so many people investigating Christianity has added to the excitement of ChristChurch’s recent venue move. Many former Alpha guests were baptised on the stage of the Piccadilly Theatre in October, and it was a real highlight to have other new Christians worshipping God in the all-new ChristChurch choir.

"Having a relationship with God has put everything in context. I'm more open with people, more peaceful, more generous - my outlook on life has completely changed." - Mark, aged 36

"Becoming a Christian has really invigorated my life. Looking out from the choir on stage at the Piccadilly theatre at hundreds of people worshipping God makes me realise just what a change has taken place!" - Fleur, aged 24

"My life has completely turned around in the last 12 months through having a relationship with Jesus - job, relationships, church, home - what an amazing difference!" - Sarah, aged 25
